Christmas Butterfly

Papilio demodocus is found in the tropical regions of Central America, South Africa and Madagascar.  This insect can be a pest especially in southern regions of Africa where much citrus is cultivated.  Because the butterfly flies in large numbers precisely at Christmas time, it is called the Christmas Butterfly.  By the tatty appearance of two of my butterflies, they have seen many a Christmas!
