~ SPRING ~

Spring in Gauteng, South Africa, is a very much awaited event heralding the promise of our incredibly  dramatic summer storms pouring down to quench a very thirsty parched earth!  From a Winter which means a brownish-yellow dry countryside, to Spring which brings bright crisp greens with pink and white blossoms dotting the landscape changing to vivid healthy greens everywhere.

Yesterday we took a drive north of Johannesburg towards the Cradle of Mankind where we passed many cyclists taking in the fresh air, residents of the area enjoying the sunshine, some stoking the fire for the evening meal and in general reveling in the freedom of the ever changing outdoors.

Winter in Richmond

Richmond is a small town in the heart of the Northern Cape, South Africa's only book town.  The week before they had had up to 50cm of snow - still very chilly!
