A Full Moon

Taken atop the Magaliesburg overlooking the Hartebeespoort Dam on the evening of the 16 December.  In the East rose a perfectly full moon.   A South African Airways plane, passing overhead, successfully catching the last rosy-pink rays of the setting sun.

A Celebration of Madiba's life, Love, Support and Admiration of a Very Great Man

These photographs were taken (with my cellphone) on the 7 December the following day after the official announcement had been made by our President Jacob Zuma.  Houghton is not far from where we live so I took the opportunity to go and take a look -
Nelson Mandela Square opposite Sandton City Shopping Center, Sandton, Johannesburg.
The passing of Nelson Mandela has seen an outpouring of love, admiration and support for one of the greatest men the world has probably ever seen.  As he lived in Houghton, Johannesburg he was 'closer' to us living in this city and as a result thousands have flocked to his Houghton home to pay their respects and to the square in Sandton named after him.  World coverage of this event has been unprecedented, not to mention overwhelming to comprehend just how much he meant to so many.
