Christmas Butterfly
Papilio demodocus is found in the tropical regions of Central America, South Africa and Madagascar. This insect can be a pest especially in southern regions of Africa where much citrus is cultivated. Because the butterfly flies in large numbers precisely at Christmas time, it is called the Christmas Butterfly. By the tatty appearance of two of my butterflies, they have seen many a Christmas!

Danaus chrysippus is part of the Monarch family. They occur from the Canary Islands through Africa, The Middle East, Southeast Asia to New Guinea and Australia and occasionally visits Europe too! The Monarchs give the warning that they are inedible by the distinctive coloration on their wings.
