Purple Pampas
We came across a huge pampas grass vlei back lit in the afternoon sun. The sky was a strange purple grey colour but looked great as a backdrop to their fluffy heads.

All By Myself
In this area the gates seem to stay open permanently just hanging awkwardly on their hinges!

It's what the Octopus said!
The Orange Army invaded our land for a solid month, each win strengthening their belief that they would be the ones to lift the Cup! In the end it was Paul the Octopus who had to lay down the law and who's tentacles held true right to the very bitter end - SPAIN would lift the Cup, he said, and so they did!!!

FINAL Countdown - ONE day to GO!!!
One day before the games were due to start, everybody was on the streets during their lunch hour (which went on a lot longer!) in support for our local team, Bafana Bafana. There were people everywhere waving flags, blowing vuvuzelas, cars sounding their hooters, never seen such support - IT WAS AMAZING WOW!!

THINK BIG BAFANA
Rand Merchant Bank went to the trouble of putting decals on the windows of their building next door to the multistoried one with the ropes of flags. As we all know, Bafana didn't make it to the second round but were instrumental in ousting France, 1-2, a huge achievement and make us proud? they most certainly did!

Rand Merchant Bank - going the Second Mile!
This was one of the most incredible displays supporting our local team, Bafana Bafana. These flags flew for the entire month of the World Cup.

Good Evening
Shot on a Nikon D2X (we now shoot mainly on Canon - hey, camera's don't matter!), this is still one of my favourite sun close-ups. Derrick, Nikon D2X / AF-S Nikkor 400mm f2.8
Picture Break
Winter clouds are so very rare here in Gauteng. Merle taking a break in the middle of - winter. Derrick, Canon EOS-1Ds
Flags in the afternoon sun
At this stage Germany were still in with a chance of winning the World Cup. Well, that was then! Derrick, Canon EOS-1Ds, 17-40mm f4L
